Scuba Calendar app and all its related activities abide by the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). One of your rights under EU law is that you must be informed when your personal data - also known as personal information - is processed (collected, used, stored). You also have the right to know the details and purpose of that processing.
Hereby we provide you with some general information.

The app allows you to use most of our services without signing up. In this case, we do not collect any personal data from you on our servers.
To enable a personalized experience inside the app, we have added a possibility to create an account via sign-up option. This will permit you to save your sightings of the wildlife and publish them on Divers Connected. This will also enable you to interact with other users on Divers Connected, such as agreeing/disagreeing or commenting on the posts.
We also need your email address to be able to contact you and keep you updated of any new developments concerning the app.
In this case, we ask you for a minimum amount of information needed to create such personalization. The obligatory information we will collect and store on our servers is your email address and your alias (name shown on the Divers Connected). All other information is on a voluntary basis and we will collect it only if you decide to share it with us. This information includes: profile photo, your birthday, your country of origin and your gender. In addition, you can decide to share with us your preferences in scuba diving, such as your favorite animal, your favorite country and what type of diver you are. We collect this information for statistical reasons and to know better our clients and their preferences.
It is possible to login directly via Facebook or Google. We have added this function to fasten your sign-up process. We do not have access to your accounts on either of these two services and we cannot post on your behalf. Furthermore, we cannot see your password for any of the two services. Facebook and Google simply give our app their approval once you login to these services.
We only request from Facebook and Google your name and your profile photo. We also ask for your email address, however, we receive it only if you have set this information as public inside Facebook or Google. We do not ask for any other personal or public data.
We also do not give Facebook nor Google any information about you.
We do not reuse the information for another purpose that is different to the one stated in these Terms and Conditions. We put in place measures to guarantee that your data are kept up-to-date and processed securely. We will never divulge your personal data for direct marketing purposes. You have the right to access your personal information, to have it corrected and the right to recourse, at any time if you believe your data protection rights have been breached. To ensure you smooth interactions with your account on Scuba Calendar App, we tend to keep your account and related data for more than 10 years.
Within Scuba Calendar, there are currently 2 persons with access to your personal data. Both persons are the owners of the app.
Your data may be transferred to third parties, including national supervisory authorities, only where necessary to ensure the appropriate investigation or follow up of your complaint.
You are entitled to access the personal data we hold about you and to have them rectified where necessary. Whenever you decide to delete your account and all related personal information or get an extract from what we keep in our database about you, please send us an email to info(at)scuba-calendar.com. We will reply within 1 month.
In case you want to delete one of the posts inside Divers Connected or inside My Map, you can do that inside the app by clicking on ‘three’ dots next to the post in question. Immediately, the post is deleted from our servers.
Furthermore, you can change all your personal data by going to My Profile part of the app.
Finally, please note that we do not keep a historical copy of your personal data. This means that we cannot retrieve back the data you either changed or deleted.
All the information used inside the app is gathered to the best of our knowledge either by first-hand observation or via the reliable sources. The data presented in the Search include only the historically peak times where certain wildlife was observed in the area. Nevertheless, we cannot predict the nature. And even the richest historical data cannot predict the behaviour of the animals in the years to come. This is also the reason why we have added the Divers Connected part of the app, where you can check yourself if there are reports of sightings by fellow divers. Therefore, we cannot be held responsible for any inaccurate information.
Divers Connected is a sharing platform accessible to all users of the app. Once you decide to share sighting publicly, it will appear immediately on Divers Connected, without prior moderation. We reserve the right to delete posts or comments, without notice, that are unlawful, defamatory, obscene, abusive, threatening, harassing, insulting, incorrect or deemed confidential. In case of a repetitive breach of these guidelines, we reserve the right to block a user from further posting.
Profit and non-profit organisations are welcome to use their aliases on Divers Connected and contribute to spreading the database. However, we will not allow for direct marketing inside the posts, such as inviting people to contact them directly or providing any contact details inside the description of the post. Such posts will be deleted and respective users might get blocked from further participation on Divers Connected. We believe that by contributing to Divers Connected, scuba divers themselves will recognize organisations they want to explore further.
Divers Connected was created to help marine conservation organizations and fellow divers to track patterns in wildlife behavior. By using Divers Connected you agree to sometimes share certain information with such organizations. In this case, we will anonymize the data and delete all the information that might connect the post to you. The export will only consist of the date and place of sighting, the report on environmental situation, type of the animal and the corresponding photo that the receiving organization may only use to identify the individual animal.
We use Firebase, a Google owned service for all our notifications inside the app, resulting from the use of Divers Connected or directly from us. Firebase does not have access to your personal data and is therefore not processing it.
We also use MailChimp, an email distribution service. We use this service to keep you informed about the new developments inside the app. The only information we keep there is your email address. In case you want to unsubscribe from this service, you can do so by clicking on an unsubscribe link inside one of these emails or sending us an email to info(at)scuba-calendar.com.
We do not use any other third party services inside Scuba Calendar App.
You are entitled to access the personal data we hold about you and to have them rectified where necessary. Whenever you decide to delete your account and all related personal information or get an extract from what we keep in our database about you, please send us an email to info@scuba-calendar.com. We will reply within 1 month.
Should you wish so, you can also delete your account via 'My Profile' section of the app. This will delete all your data permanently from our servers.
Our servers are located in Luxembourg, Europe.
Please note that the only means to download the app is to use the Apple App Store or Google Play. They collect personal data according to the privacy policies on their websites. We do not endorse or take responsibility for their processing of your personal information.
Whenever we make changes to the Privacy Policy, we will send you a notification inside the app.
